Centrally located within Europe, Hvar is the perfect mix for divers, especially given its climate, temperate waters, underwater visibility, and local island attractions. Whether you are needing an extended summer vacation or just a quick escape, make Hvar your next diving destination! Looking for more than Hvar? Visit Florine’s scuba diving blog now!
Split is the nearest airport to the island, and the best place to fly to if you’re planning on getting to Hvar. Situated just 30 km from the Split ferry station, transfer from the Airport is cheapest by bus (departing every 20 minutes). Taxis are also available.
Once reaching the Split Ferry Terminal, take either a catamaran to Hvar Town (most direct) or the ferry to Stari Grad (this option requires one final bus/taxi transfer unless pre-organized via your hotel). Jadrolinija operates a year-round ferry service from Split to Stari Grad (2 hours) and a daily catamaran direct to Hvar Town (~1 hour) during peak season. We recommend that you plan ahead by viewing the ferry timetable and during peak season, booking your tickets in advance.
Hvar is also accessible via Dubrovnik (230km south) and connecting ferry; or by flying to Zadar (160km north) and catching a bus to Split.
